Eye witnesses said the fire started in the storeroom of the old two story factory at 6.30 a.m. Firefighters took 90 minutes to extinguish the blaze. Chief of the North Surabaya police precinct, Lt. Col. P.H. Purnomo, said the preliminary investigation suggested that an electrical short circuit caused the fire. There was no word of any casualties.
