Nias gets a new power generator

GUNUNG SITOLI, Nias: A long-awaited Rp 234 million
(US$105,000) rural electrification project went into operation
this week on Nias Island in West Sumatra.

The project in the Siforoasi village was dedicated on Tuesday
by Siti Hardianti Rukmana, a deputy chairman of the ruling Golkar
party.

"This electrification project is also meant to promote the
local economy," the eldest daughter of President Soeharto told
the cheering villagers.(kod)
