College closed
From Kompas
We are students of the Indonesian Speech Therapy College, that
is managed by the Yasti Foundation located at Jl. Hang Lekiu III
No 17 Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
On July 28, 1994 the College, which is under the supervision
of the Department of Health, was closed by the Head of Jakarta
Office of the Department of Health on the grounds that the
institution does not have the legal operational permission, hence
it is illegal.
The College director, BS, admitted that he never asked for
official permission, but settled the matter illegally i.e. by
extending graft.
To attract students he said that the college was subsidized by
the Health Department. As far as we are concerned, this is not
only a deceit but an insult to the Department of Health. When the
students held a demonstration demanding the responsibility of the
Director, he pledged that he would arrange to get an operational
permit. But this also proved to be another hoax. He again told
the students that a new foundation would have to be established.
The founders of this foundation would include such figures as
Soesilo Soedarman, Rudini and Edi Sudradjat.
We students hope that the matter can be solved soon.
