Bogor needs waste dumps
JAKARTA (JP): The Bogor administration has come under fire for
its carelessness in building inadequate facilities at the final
waste dump in Pasir Jambu village.
The Antara news agency reported on Thursday that the
facilities still lacking are an asphalted road leading to the
location and a concrete wall around the dump to prevent the
garbage from being scattered.
Pasir Jambu residents have been affected by air pollution for
years because of the absence of these facilities.
"We have reported these conditions to the Bogor administration
many times but so far there has been no action being taken," a
resident said.
The resident also said the administration had violated the
rule that only domestic and market wastes could be dumped there.
"The administration also dumps dangerous hospital wastes
there," the resident said. (mas)
