Fire guts domino factory
SURABAYA, East Java: Fire destroyed a domino factory and two
other buildings in a densely populated area yesterday.
Eye witnesses said the fire started in the storeroom of the
old two story factory at 6.30 a.m. Firefighters took 90 minutes
to extinguish the blaze.
Chief of the North Surabaya police precinct, Lt. Col. P.H.
Purnomo, said the preliminary investigation suggested that an
electrical short circuit caused the fire.
There was no word of any casualties. The police estimated the
resulted loss at "several hundred million rupiah". The destroyed
printing machine represents the biggest lost, Antara reported.
