Malang marathon keeps going on

JAKARTA (JP): The Malang international marathon remains one of the major events in this year's agenda of the Indonesian Track and Field Association, an official says.

Mas Soemarto of Malang, East Java sports governing body (KONI) said on Thursday that the 42-kilometer race along the hilly track in the city will be held for the second year running in April. "We expect to see more foreign runners join the competition," Soemarto said.

Only 10 foreigners took part in the inaugural meet which happened to coincide with other international races in England, Japan and the U.S. last year. The Malang marathon will find its only rivaling race this year in England. (amd)
