Hotman announced his withdrawal from the legal team on 23 July 2026, citing a pinched nerve condition that requires him to seek further medical treatment in Singapore. The lawyer stated he could not continue handling the case due to concerns that the stress would worsen his health.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has announced plans to scrutinise the tax compliance of wealthy Indonesians who fail to declare their overseas assets. A female government contract teacher (PPPK) in Tanjung Balai, North Sumatra, is alleged to have handed over her 12-year-old orphaned student to her husband for sexual abuse. The husband, also a teacher, reportedly lured the victim with a mobile phone before committing the assault in his wife's presence. The case has sparked public outrage, leading to a mob raid on the couple's home, and is currently under investigation by the Tanjung Balai Police.
