Pramono: Jakarta School Repairs Stalled Due to Central Government Efficiency Measures
JAKARTA – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has revealed the cause of delays in plans to repair a number of damaged schools under his administration’s jurisdiction. He argued that the central government’s efficiency measures had hindered those plans.
He made the remarks while promising repairs at SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09, the poor condition of which drew public attention recently. Pramono said the school’s repair had in fact been planned for this year, along with 21 other schools.
However, the efficiency policy implemented by the central government meant the school’s repair was not carried out. As a result, of the 22 schools slated for repair in 2026, the Jakarta provincial government could only proceed with repairs at seven schools.
“Why did this happen? Because there were cuts to the DBH (Revenue Sharing Fund), efficiency measures, and so on, so of those 22, only seven will now have construction started soon,” he said after inspecting the condition of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 on Friday (24/7/2026).
The poor condition of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 had earlier spread widely on social media. From the viral video, Pramono admitted he had only just learned that the school’s condition was deeply concerning.
He therefore immediately held a meeting with his officials to follow up. In that meeting, it was decided that the Jakarta provincial government would allocate additional funds to repair damaged schools.
“Yesterday in the meeting I decided there were four schools I asked to be built straight away, including this one. Why must they be built immediately? Because the condition is truly appalling,” he said.
Pramono said the four schools to be repaired are SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 with a budget of Rp 48.1 billion, SMAN 102 Jakarta with Rp 67.5 billion, SDN Cempaka Putih Barat 03 with Rp 48.4 billion, and SDN Papanggo 01 and TKN Papanggo 01 with Rp 74.1 billion.
The total budget for the school repairs reaches Rp 249 billion. The funds to repair the schools, which had been left in disrepair since 2024, will come from the revised regional budget (APBD-P) and the Building Floor Coefficient (KLD) funds.
“These four are the ones where we will start construction now. Tomorrow there will be another meeting to appoint the technical team and supervisors, and so on. Because I do not want these repairs, which have not come easily, to be carried out half-heartedly,” he said.
