Ship and Cargo Traffic at Ciwandan Port Sees Significant Growth

During the first half of 2026, the volume of ships served at Ciwandan Port reached 22,467,366 gross tonnage (GT). This achievement represents a 15.21% increase compared to the same period in 2025, which recorded 19,500,514 GT.

General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Banten, Benny Ariadi, stated that this increase reflects growing confidence among shipping and industrial service users in utilising the services and operations at Ciwandan Port.

In line with this, consolidated international cargo traffic also showed positive growth. Total cargo flow in the first semester was recorded at 2.27 million tonnes, up 10.73% compared to the realisation in Semester I 2025, which was 2.05 million tonnes.

The increase was primarily supported by a rise in the loading and unloading volume of dry bulk commodities, which grew by 20.75% to 1.28 million tonnes from the previous 1.06 million tonnes last year. Additionally, general cargo commodities made a significant contribution with a growth of 13.80% to 473.89 thousand tonnes, compared to the previous year’s achievement of 416.43 thousand tonnes.

In terms of service levels, Pelindo Regional 2 Banten continues to strive to improve cargo handling efficiency on the ground. This is evident from the increased productivity in handling non-containerised goods at the multipurpose terminal for international routes. Dry bulk productivity rose by 77.75% from 197.4 T/G/H (tonnes/gang/hour) in 2025 to 350.87 T/G/H in the first semester. Meanwhile, liquid bulk commodity productivity also increased by 61.65% from 184.97 T/G/H to 299 T/G/H.
