The joint Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team from the South Sulawesi Regional Police has identified another body from the sinking of the KM Nurul Salsal in the waters off the Selayar Islands Regency. The victim has been identified as a man named Hasbi (41), a resident of Labuan Marege, Baji Minasa Village, Pasimasunggu District, Selayar Islands Regency, according to the Head of Medical and Health Affairs for the South Sulawesi Police, Commissioner M. Haris, on Friday (24/7). Haris explained that the identification was made after the team received a body bag numbered PM 62 B 03 Selayar. Examination results showed the body matched ante-mortem data numbered 015. The identification process utilised several scientific methods, including fingerprint matching, medical data, and property or personal belongings still attached to the body. With this latest identification, the joint DVI team has now successfully identified three bodies from the KM Nurul Salsal sinking. Meanwhile, regarding the investigation into the cause of the sinking of the KM Nurul Salsal, which was carrying 76 people, the Head of Public Relations for the South Sulawesi Police, Commissioner Didik Supranoto, stated that investigators have examined 25 witnesses.
