Mitsubishi to build RI plant

Mitsubishi to build RI plant TOKYO (Reuter): Mitsubishi Corp said yesterday that it had linked up with U.S. and Indonesian firms to build a 450,000- kilowatt power plant in Java, Indonesia, at a cost of about US$700-$800 million. The coal-fired power plant is scheduled for completion by April 2000 in Cilacap, central Java, a Mitsubishi spokesman said. The project is expected to sign a power-supply contract with Indonesia's state electricity company, PLN, as early as July, he said.

CGI pledges US$5.26b in financial aid for RI JAKARTA (JP): The Consultative Group on Indonesia (CGI) pledged US$5.26 billion in financial aid to Indonesia for the 1996/1997 fiscal year at the end of its two-day meeting in Paris yesterday. The fresh loan commitment is slightly lower than the $5.36 billion pledged by Indonesia's creditor group in 1995/1996. The aid commitment brought much relief to the Indonesian delegation.
