JAKARTA (JP): Poultry supplier PT Anwar Sierad yesterday predicted net sales of Rp 475 billion (US$201 million) and net profit of Rp 35 billion for 1996, compared to last year's figures of Rp 345 billion and Rp 26 billion respectively.
A company statement said it will expand its food business by opening Hartz Chicken Buffet franchises and sub-franchises in Indonesia and China later this year.
Earlier this year Anwar Sierad acquired 51 percent of Hartz Restaurant Inc. which owns the exclusive franchise of Hartz Chicken Buffet.
Hartz Chicken Buffet is now operating in Malaysia. It will soon open in the Philippines, South Korea and Thailand.
The company said it has signed an agreement with Grup le Duff of France to operate La Brioche Doree cafe, Pizza del Arte restaurant and Bridor frozen dough.
"We will also open 20 Wendy's outlets this year in several major cities. We have just opened five new outlets in Jakarta, Yogyakarta in Central Java and Surabaya in East Java."
In December 1994 Anwar Sierad acquired 90 percent of Wendy Citrarasa, which owns the exclusive Indonesian franchise for Wendy's.
Sales from Wendy's restaurants accounted for 8 percent of the company's total sales in 1995. (alo)
