TV Media replies

We refer to the news article in the June 10, 1996 edition of The Jakarta Post entitled Customers flood YLKI with complaints about TV Media.

We consider it necessary to correct some inaccuracies in the report so as not to cause an unnecessary misinterpretation, which is disadvantageous to TV Media. After having confirmed the article with YLKI, we have concluded that the information contained in the article is inaccurate. The article should have referred to direct response advertisement or "purchase through TV" (correct terminology has yet to be invented for this purchasing system), instead of focusing on TV Media. The media has become so familiarized with TV Media that they have often mistaken all "purchase through TV" advertisements for TV Media. In fact, there are four other companies that do the same line of business as TV Media, i.e. producing "buying through TV" advertisements.

It should be noted that TV Media is a franchise company with its headquarters in Singapore. PT Telemedia Internusa is one of its branches, which acts as the sole agent to market the company's products in Indonesia. All of our advertised products have gone through a strict quality control procedure, as customer satisfaction has been our primary commitment.

We welcome any complaints from our customers, and will do our best to provide better service in the future.
