Telkom reshuffles strategic executives

JAKARTA (JP): Less than five weeks after the installation of its new boards of commissioners and directors, the state-owned domestic telecommunications operator announced yesterday a reshuffle of 16 strategic executives.

Among the executives reshuffled by Telkom director Dadad Kustiwa yesterday were the company's Jakarta regional office manager, Bambang Riadhy Oemar, Jakarta regional office deputy manager, Woeryanto Soeradji, West Jakarta office manager, James Roney Villanueva, Central Jakarta office manager, G.S. Sigit Pramono and the personal assistant to the president, Ai Muljadi Ma'moer.

Oemar was appointed yesterday as chief of Telkom's training center, Soeradji vice president for operations and marketing and Villanueva as Jakarta regional office deputy manager.

Ma'moer has become coordinator of Telkom's joint operation programs with private firms and Pramono coordinator of the T-2001 program, a plan to upgrade the company to become a world class operator.

Meanwhile, Guntur Siregar was installed yesterday to replace Oemar as manager of the company's Jakarta office.

No explanation was given for why the executives were moved to new positions.

Under the Oemar and Soeradji management, the Jakarta office successfully launched Telkom's campaigns to market services in Jakarta and nearby towns in West Java, including Tangerang, Purwakarta, Serang, Cibinong, Depok, Bogor, Karawang and Bekasi.

Based on data compiled by Telkom, Jakarta and its surrounding towns currently have 1.33 million fixed-telephone lines, 15,421 public card telephones and 24,435 public coin phones.

In the meantime, the top positions at Telkom's Central and West Jakarta offices remain vacant.

On May 17, Telkom shareholders agreed to appoint Bambang Subianto, a senior official at the Ministry of Finance, to replace Martiono Hadianto as Telkom's chief commissioner and Asman A. Nasution as its new president, replacing Setyanto P. Santosa. Andi Siswaka Faisal was appointed as director of engineering and Harry Supangkat as director of finance.(icn)
