Mitsubishi to build RI plant
TOKYO (Reuter): Mitsubishi Corp said yesterday that it had
linked up with U.S. and Indonesian firms to build a 450,000-
kilowatt power plant in Java, Indonesia, at a cost of about
US$700-$800 million.
The coal-fired power plant is scheduled for completion by
April 2000 in Cilacap, central Java, a Mitsubishi spokesman said.
The project is expected to sign a power-supply contract with
Indonesia's state electricity company, PLN, as early as July, he
said.
Mitsubishi and U.S. energy firm Duke Power Co's subsidiary
Duke Energy will each hold a 40 percent share of the project,
while the remainder will be owned by Indonesian companies, the
spokesman said.
Boilers and turbines for the new plant will be ordered from
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, he added.
