Rubber producers expected to sign new price pact SINGAPORE (AFP): Asia's key rubber producers opened annual talks here yesterday amid optimism they would sign and ratify a new global price stabilization agreement ahead of a December deadline. Failure by producers and consumers to sign the third International Natural Rubber Agreement (INRA) hammered out in Geneva in February would liquidate the current pact expiring on Dec.28, industry officials said.

Yangon Airlines will fly initally fly domestic routes with two Fokker F-50 aircraft. Operations are set to begin within six months, Transport Ministry officials said. Yangon Airways will be the third airline jointly established between the government-run Myanmar Airways and foreign partners.

Man arrested for rape BEKASI (JP): Bekasi police confirmed yesterday the arrest of a man accused of raping a 15-year-old relative. The suspect, identified only as Ar, 34, is now in the custody of the Bantar Gebang police for questioning. The girl, Ar's wife's niece, lives with the family. The rape took place while Ar's wife was visiting a relative in Grogol, West Jakarta. The girl tried to resist but failed. She then went to her neighbors to report what had happened.

Bernadus's companion, identified as Irfan, is still at large.

At 0840 GMT, the share was at S$1.18, up 20.20 percent or 19 cents, with more than 7.3 million shares traded. Dealers said there were vague rumors of a possible takeover by either an Indonesian or Malaysian party. Another rumor was a possible rights issue, they said.
