Dutchman dies while extending visa
SEMARANG, Central Java: Haagsma Rene Rudolf George, of Dutch nationality, fell unconscious at an immigration office while applying for a visa extension, and died on the way to the hospital on Tuesday.
George, who was born in 1934 in old Jakarta under the Dutch colonial administration, fainted while queuing in front of the office's cashier. He was immediately brought to the Tolorejo Hospital, but died on the way, Antara reported.
Chief of the immigration office Syaiful Rachman said he could not disclose any information as to the cause of the foreigner's death. He promised, however, to help return the body to his home country of the Netherlands. (swe)
