Gas shop fire kills two JAKARTA (JP): A fire killed two employees and destroyed a liquefied petroleum gas station and a food stall in Jatiuwung, Tangerang. Taufik, a firefighter of the Tangerang Fire Department, said the fire started at about 11:30 a.m at the station on Jl. Pandan Raya, in Jati Uwung. "A gas tube exploding at the station caused the fire," Taufik said. Two employees of the station, Dedi, 27, and Armen, 22, were trapped by the fire, he said.

Westin plans to open more hotels here JAKARTA (JP): Westin Hotels and Resorts, a U.S. hotel management firm based in Seattle, plans a major expansion in Indonesia, its Surabaya hotel's general manager said yesterday. Rolf Salomon, said the firm was building a second hotel in Jakarta. He said it was negotiating with its prospective partners to run two more hotels in two Indonesian cities.

Gudang Garam 's dividend SURABAYA (JP): Cigarette maker PT Gudang Garam will pay a total dividend of Rp 288 billion (US$120.25 million) for 1996 or Rp 150 a share. The company's director, Djajusaman Surjowijono said Thursday that net profit was projected to increase 12 percent to Rp 738 billion this year. Last year, net profit increased 78 percent to Rp 655 billion in 1996 from Rp 366 billion the year before.
