Dili gets new airport chief
DILI: Lt. Col. Bambang Edi Purwanto was sworn in Thursday as the Dili airport commandant, replacing Lt. Col. Daniel Parinding who died in a glider accident in April.
Edi had been an officer at Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma airport.
He was sworn in by Rear Marshall Hanafie Asnan, the Air Force Region II operations commander, in a military ceremony attended by governor Abilio Jose Osorio Soares, local military chief Col. Slamat Sidabutar and police chief Col. Atok Rismanto.
Parinding died after his power glider stalled in midair and crashed 60 meters to the ground. (33)
