Proton's profit surges

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia's national car company Proton Bhd. said yesterday net profits surged 108.9 percent year-on-year to 741.47 million ringgit (US$297 million) in the year to March.

Revenue rose 20.3 percent to 6.22 billion ringgit from 5.17 billion ringgit previously, Proton said in a statement to the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
