Warner Bros to open in Indonesia JAKARTA (JP): Warner Bros Studio Stores of the United States and PT Putra Warner Perkasa, a subsidiary of PT Putra Surya Perkasa (PSP), signed an agreement yesterday allowing the latter to open stores in Indonesia under the name of the former. The agreement was signed by Peter Starret, president of Warner Bros, and Trijono Gondokusumo, the chief executive officer of the PSP group, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel here.

Thais seize animals smuggled from Indonesia BANGKOK (Reuter): Thai customs officials said yesterday they had seized a large consignment of animals smuggled from Indonesia, including dozens of endangered crocodiles and exotic birds. The animals were found stuffed into cages and boxes aboard a cargo ship which arrived at Samut Sakorn port, just south of Bangkok, late last week, officials said. Many of the animals were found dead, the officials said.

300 workers continue strike JAKARTA (JP): Some 300 garment factory workers from PT Centra Busana Jaya Persada on Jl. Cilincing in North Jakarta continued their strike yesterday, demanding minimum wages and welfare improvement. Zarkowi, a workers' representative, said that the workers -- currently receiving Rp 3,000 (US$1.27) a day -- are demanding Rp 5,200, as regulated by the government. BDNI to launch mutual fund JAKARTA (JP): The Capital Market Supervisory Agency (Bapepam) granted a license yesterday to the country's first open-end mutual fund, which will be called the Reksa Dana Money Market Fund (MMF) and sponsored by Bank Dagang Nasional Indonesia and PT BDNI Securities. Reksa Dana MMF will offer 500 million shares to be priced at Rp 1,000 (42 U.S. cents) each starting July 5. The share price will be adjusted on a daily basis according to the fund's net asset value.
