City needs 10m kiloliters of fuel

JAKARTA (JP): The nine million capital's gas (BBM) consumption
in the year 1996/1997 is estimated to reach ten million
kiloliters (KL) with the largest need of approximately 3,7 KL for
diesel, said an official yesterday.

About 35 percent of the estimated amount will be supplied by
the Balongan Refinery in Indramayu, West Java, Hariyanto, the
spokesman for the Unit IV state-owned oil company Pertamina in
Balongan, said yesterday.

According to Harijanto, during the same period of time, the
need for premium gas will be as much as 2,6 million kiloliters,
kerosene around 2,3 million kilo liters and fuel oil around 1,4
million, Antara reported.

He also stated that even though Bolongan can provide only 35
percent of the needed total estimate, premium gas and LPG
(Liquefied Petroleum Gas), with total consumption in Jakarta now
282 thousand tons, will be supplied by Balongan in full.

Before the Balongan Refinery started production last year
premium gas and LPG for Jakarta was provided by the refinery in
Cilacap, Central Java. Therefore, said Harijanto, the Balongan
Refinery is quite a big supplier of premium gas and LPG for
Jakarta. (26)
