North Sulawesi, which won in the National Games in 1973 and 1981, beat South Sumatra in the 10th round with 22-8, and East Nusa Tenggara in the 11th round with 21-9, with a total score of 236 VP.

Paul Boleng, the head of the local tourism promotion agency, said on Wednesday that in 1995 over 24,000 tourists visited the island, home to the almost extinct Komodo dragons, compared to 22,000 the previous year. Boleng said the tourists mostly come to the island from Denpasar, Bali, traveling via Mataram on Lombok.

Police sources said yesterday that Jayadi and Raya were picked up at their hideout in Cirebon, West Java, on Wednesday. The suspects admitted to killing the servant Jenjen and stealing a tape deck and laser disc player from the house. Police also arrested a man, identified as Buyung, who bought the loot from the suspects.

Pertamina finds gas JAKARTA (JP): The state-owned oil company Pertamina and its partner Saga Petroleum Indonesia Jambi have discovered natural gas and condensate at the Pulau Gading-1 (PGD) well, roughly 75 km southeast of Jambi, the capital of Jambi province. Pertamina announced on Wednesday that the well was spudded on Nov. 14, 1995 and reached a final depth of 2,220 meters on Jan. 3, 1996. Five tests were conducted in Basement, Weathered Basement, Talang Akar and Baturaja formations.
