Belated telegrams

Belated telegrams

From Neraca

In January 1996 I sent a telegram to my parents in Tanjung
Pandan in southern Sumatra. The telegram was addressed to
Pelataran Timah A. 18, Damar. Surprisingly the telegram took four
days to arrive, which was useless. It was important that my
message reach my parents much earlier. It seems that the telegram
service nowadays is no longer regarded a express service.

The situation was even worse three days after the Idul Fitri
holiday when telkom kiosks (wartel) did not accept telegram
orders because the lines were overcrowded.

Telkom should take responsibility for delays in telegram
deliveries and explain why such delays occur. Telkom employees
should have more concern about the need to better serve the
public. Lack of public transportation to reach certain locations
is surely no excuse for such negligence.
