City to get new police spokesman JAKARTA (JP): City Police spokesman Lt. Col. Bambang Haryoko will be replaced by Lt. Col. Bambang Permantoro, a senior staff member of the Police School for Middle Ranking Officers, next week. Bambang Haryoko, who has been the police spokesman for only seven months, will study for one year at the Police School for Senior Officers in Lembang, West Java. His successor was once a secretary to the city police spokesman.

Cable plant constructed JAKARTA (JP): PT Catur Yasa, a privately owned construction firm, and Sapura Holding of Malaysia will build a $500 million cable plant in Medan, North Sumatra, to support its plan to install 500,000 telephone lines in Sumatra. Catur Yasa's president, Kusumo Martoredjo, was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia as saying that the construction of the plant will be finished in the next 10 months. He declined to elaborate on the plant's production capacity.

On the box was written: Camera Made in Japan, Printed and Packaged in the USA by Fuji Photo Film, USA Inc. When I opened the box at home, I was shocked to read the words Made in Indonesia, written in small letters on the bottom of the camera. As an Indonesian citizen I was sickened by this fact, but at the same time proud.
