Made where?
Made where?
From Kompas
On Memorial Day Weekend (May 28, 1995) I bought a Fuji Discovery 1000 Zoom camera in Gilroy outlet, California. On the box was written: Camera Made in Japan, Printed and Packaged in the USA by Fuji Photo Film, USA Inc.
When I opened the box at home, I was shocked to read the words Made in Indonesia, written in small letters on the bottom of the camera. As an Indonesian citizen I was sickened by this fact, but at the same time proud. Yes, proud because my country can produce a camera of a quality which is competitive in the American market.
I felt that I had been deceived and, according to U.S. Law on Consumers' Protection, I had the right to return the item within 30 days. But my conscience prevented me for doing so. Why should I return it only because it was made in Indonesia? Anyhow, all commodities go through strict international standard quality control tests.
