Annual student sports event

JAKARTA(JP): Jakarta Governor Surjadi Soedirdja urged the
city's students to achieve their best at the third annual
national student sports competition to be held from June 14 to
June 19 in Surabaya, East Java.

"It is your honor to represent Jakarta students in particular,
as well as Jakartans as a whole," the governor said yesterday.

He added that the trust of the public was in the students, who
were, in turn, expected to do their very best.

One hundred and fifty Jakarta students will be sent to compete
in the sports event.

The sports team comprises 58 young men, 54 young women and 38
officials. They are led by Indratmo, chairman of the Jakarta
sports achievement development division.

The team will participate in nine of 10 sporting events held
during the competition, including athletics, swimming,
basketball, volleyball, badminton, court tennis and table tennis.

The Surabaya sports competition will be participated in by
some 3,000 participants from 27 provinces in Indonesia. (32)
