Man imprisoned for burning wife

SEMARANG, Central Java: The district court sentenced a man to
15 months in prison yesterday for setting his wife alight and
causing her permanent disfigurement.

Wahono, 35, admitted during an earlier session that his action
was "sadistic" and that he never imagined it would leave her with
such horrible permanent disfigurement.

"I love my wife and I don't have the slightest intention of
divorcing her. I did it out of jealous outrage," Wahono told
reporters after yesterday's sentencing.

Wahono doused his wife with kerosene and set her ablaze while
she was asleep in February. He suspected her of having an affair
with an inmate at Kedungpane prison where she has a nearby
food stall, Antara reported. (pan)
