In a statement to the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, the listed company said Monday the group recorded pre-tax profit of 9.99 million ringgit (US$3.9 million) for the six months to June 30, up from 8.4 million ringgit for the previous period.

S'pore foreign reserves up SINGAPORE (Reuter): Singapore's official foreign reserves rose to S$80.29 billion in April from S$79.62 billion in March and S$69.23 billion a year ago, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said. April gold and foreign exchange reserves grew to S$79.72 billion from S$79.04 billion a month ago and S$68.68 billion a year ago. April special drawing rights fell to S$216.20 million from S$218.5 million a month earlier and were up from the S$205.7 million a year ago.

Asia's economy may ease TOKYO (AFP): Asia's economic growth is forecast to ease from an estimated 8.3 percent last year to 7.5 percent this year and seven percent next year as China's expansion slows, Japan's Tokai Bank Ltd. said yesterday. The Nagoya-based bank said growth in China's gross domestic product (GDP) was projected to drop from an estimated 13.4 percent in calendar 1993 to 10 percent in 1994 and eight percent in 1995.
