Children's Day centered in Ancol

The City Hall has announced that this year's National Children's Day at city level will be centered in Fantasy Land, Ancol, North Jakarta.

City Hall spokesman Soesila Darmoadji said yesterday that some 5,000 children from elementary schools to senior high schools across the city, including those in orphanages, are expected to take part in the celebration which will be held on Aug. 6.

The celebration will feature magic and comedy performances, dances and games for children as well as an exhibition of children's handicrafts.

During the gathering Governor Surjadi Soedirdja is scheduled to talk to 10 children who earned the highest grades at school.

Nationwide, the celebration will be held at the Bina Graha State Palace and the Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park on July 23. (arf)
