Makassar Straits for int'l route
PALU, Central Sulawesi: The Makassar Straits in South Sulawesi will be open for international sea routes in early 1995 to ease traffic in the Straits of Malacca.
Chairperson of Commission I at the House of Representatives (DPR) Aisyah Aminy told Antara on Monday that the plan will be implemented later this year.
She made the remarks after meeting with officials of the Ministry of Information here.
Aisyah said that the government had asked for the Commission's suggestions about the plan to develop the Makassar Straits as an alternative route for international sea traffic. (par)
