`NBC' to launch Asian business

SINGAPORE (Reuter): U.S. television network National Broadcasting Co (NBC) plans to launch a business satellite television channel for Southeast Asia on Aug. 1.

The channel, to be known as ANBC, would feature financial and business news and broadcast to 15 nations in and around southeast Asia, NBC said in a statement issued in Singapore.

NBC said the new channel would be an extension of CNBC, its business news channel available via cable in the United States.
