Bank customer robbed of Rp 110m JAKARTA (JP): A private company employee was robbed yesterday by two men in his office parking lot on Jl. Cokroaminoto in Menteng, Central Jakarta after just having withdrawn Rp 110 million (US$46,808) from BBD Bank's Tanah Abang branch. At least five employees of the company saw one of the two robbers pointing a gun at Sutarman while grabbing the black bag containing the money, which belonged to the office.

Flood victims get new homes BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Minister of Social Services Inten Soeweno opened yesterday 150 houses newly built by the Armed Forces for flood victims in East Aceh regency, Antara reported. The ceremony was held in Bundar Karang Baru village, 466 kilometers east of here, said regency administration spokesman M. Basyir Hasan. Flash floods hit the regency in Dec. 1995, inundating thousands of villages in 17 districts. The regency's 19 districts house a population of 502,657 people.

70,000 more hotel rooms projected by 2003 JAKARTA (JP): The government predicts that more than 70,000 additional star-rated hotel rooms will come on the market during the Seventh Five-year Development Plan (Repelita VII), raising the country's total number of hotel rooms to 332,881. ADB lends $222.35m to RP MANILA (AFP): The Asian Development Bank said it had approved three loans totaling US$222.347 million for transport, water and power projects in the Philippines. It would also provide two technical assistance grants worth $1.4 million, the Manila-based bank said in a statement. The bank said it was co-financing a five-year, $652.8 million road and bridge rehabilitation project across the archipelago with a $167 million loan and an $825,000 technical assistance grant.

Three men die digging well PALU, Central Sulawesi: Three residents of Tondo village in the East Palu district died of asphyxiation while digging a well, Antara reported on Wednesday. Roby Aswin, Benyamin and Sofyan Lahi, all 20 years old, were installing a pump in a 16-meter deep well near the Ittihadul Akhiraat Mosque when they inhaled fumes from the machine, said Central Sulawesi Police Chief Maj. Razali. Sumardin, a worker who had supervised the digging from above had started the pump.

Buses run on LPG in Indonesian fuel trial JAKARTA (JP): A supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is conducting a three-month trial run with the first bus ever to use LPG in Indonesia. Chris Sulisto, president of PT Otogas Karya Pratama, said that while the hundreds of cars have been converted in Jakarta and a few in Bali, the bus is the first diesel-fueled vehicle to use LPG. "Until recently, people thought it was impossible to convert a diesel-fueled car to be LPG fueled," he said.
