RI and Finland to talk forestry cooperation
JAKARTA (JP): Finnish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Kalevi Hemila is expected to arrive here Sunday to discuss Finnish-Indonesia forestry cooperation, the Finnish Embassy announced yesterday.
The embassy said Indonesian Minister of Forestry Djamaludin Suryohadikusumo would host the Finnish minister during his two- day visit.
The Finnish minister is scheduled to meet Minister of Agriculture Sjarifudin Baharsjah, Minister of Industry and Trade Tunky Ariwibowo and State Minister of National Development Ginandjar Kartasasmita.
The embassy said Finland was an experienced manager of forestry resources, and that Finnish wood processing technology was being used by major Indonesian companies.
Finnish officials and representatives of 25 forestry, pulp and paper companies and related companies plan to accompany the Finnish minister to Indonesia.
The minister is expected to meet representatives of Indonesian non-governmental organizations involved in environmental, social and human rights issues.
During the minister's visit, there will be a seminar on Indonesia-Finnish forestry cooperation, Towards a Greener Future, being organized by the Embassy of Finland and the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry. (06)
