Obituary Selo Soemardjan, 88, a senior professor of sociology, died on Wednesday of heart failure in Jakarta at 1 p.m. He was taken on Monday to Harapan Kita hospital, West Jakarta, after he collapsed at his house. His granddaughter, Dewi Satriani, said her grandfather was first diagnosed with heart failure in 1990. Selo is survived by six children, 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His wife had passed away in 1989.
