AFC promotes plan for Asian soccer
JAKARTA: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) officials were in Jakarta on Wednesday to promote its "Asian Vision", a soccer drive to lift the soccer standards of Asian countries.
"The campaign incorporates 10 key elements to ensure that we can develop with the results expected within the following 10 or 15 years," AFC President Mohammed bin Hammam said in a media conference after a presentation before the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) executive board and its provincial chapters here.
Hammam, who was accompanied by secretary-general Dato Peter Velappan, said he would encourage the national soccer associations in Asia to improve their organizational performance by recruiting professional staff.
AFC groups 45 countries, which will be divided into four zones to enable easy coordination. --JP
