BRI named bank of the year

JAKARTA: PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) was named by Investor
magazine on Wednesday as the best of the country's recap banks
with assets of more than Rp 50 trillion, followed by Bank Central
Asia and Bank Mandiri.

The magazine also named Bank Bukopin as the best among the
recap banks with assets of between Rp 10 billion and Rp 50
billion, and Bank Buana as the best among the non-recap banks
with assets of between Rp 10 billion and Rp 50 billion.

The magazine used several criteria to asses the performance of
the banks, including capital adequacy ratio (CAR), non-performing
loan (NPL) ratio, return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE),
net interest margin (NIM) and loan to deposit ratio (LDR). -- JP
