Burglars target former minister Shihab
JAKARTA: Burglars broke into the home of former religious
affairs minister Quraish Shihab located on Jl. Jeruk Purut in
Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Wednesday at about 3 a.m., making off
with a Toyota Camry, a laptop computer and a Discman.
"It seems that they were familiar with the situation in the
house," Shihab's wife, Fatmawati, was quoted by Antara as saying.
She said the burglars entered the house by forcing open a
window.
Fatmawati said she and her husband became aware they had been
robbed when they woke up to pray. Shihab realized something was
amiss when he saw a light on in his office. When he checked, he
saw that his laptop was missing.
The couple then checked the garage and saw that their Toyota
Camry had been stolen, though a Hyundai Matrix was still there
despite the fact that the thieves had taken the car's key.
After praying, Shihab reported the robbery to the community
unit chief and the Pasar Minggu Police. --Antara
