Thai fisherman tests HIV-positive AMBON, Maluku: Another Thai fisherman has tested positive for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the Maluku office of the Ministry of Health said Saturday. The latest finding brings the number of Thai fishermen in Maluku with the virus to five. Altogether, the province has 17 HIV cases, Antara said. Many Thais work as crew on fishing boats that operate in the waters around Maluku. Most of them are concentrated in Tual, the capital of Southeast Maluku. (09)

Two alleged drug makers nabbed JAKARTA (JP): Police arrested two men in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, over the weekend for alleged involvement in the production of barbiturate-type Nipam pills. City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said Saturday the police also confiscated 15 large sacks of powder believed to be the main ingredient used to produce Nipam. "The powder, weighing around 900 kilograms in total, could be used to make up to six million Nipam pills," Aritonang said.
