Intercity programs enter Internet JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Intercity Cooperation Agency and the Center for Information and Development Studies (Cides) signed an agreement on the establishment of an Internet service called City-Net. The agreement was signed Friday by H. Abdul Munir, the agency's secretary-general, and Adi Sasono, chairman of Cides, and was witnessed by Jakarta Deputy Governor of Economic and Development Affairs Tb.M. Rais.

Cardiac clinics planned for all 27 provinces JAKARTA (JP): Cardiac prevention and rehabilitation clinics will be made available in Indonesia's 27 provinces to treat heart disease, a cardiologist at the National Cardiac Center at Harapan Kita Hospital said Saturday. Dede Kusmana said that once the plan materialized, the National Cardiac Center in Jakarta would serve as a referral center and handle only very serious cardiac cases. The company said the dividend payout would total Rp 2.25 billion, or 31.2 percent of last year's net profit. It said it booked a net profit of Rp 7.2 billion (US$2.94 million) last year, up by 11.1 percent from Rp 6.5 billion in 1995.

Three foreigners arrested JAKARTA (JP): Three women holding passports issued by the Republic of China have been arrested in West Jakarta for allegedly violating their working permits. Head of immigration's control and supervision department, Zaiman Nurmatias, said Friday the three were arrested on June 21 at the Sydney 2000 entertainment center, on Jl. Mangga Besar. Their names would be included on the immigration blacklist and they would be deported from the country, Zaiman said.

Book about lawman Ali Said launched JAKARTA (JP): A book about the late Ali Said, one of Indonesian's most prominent legal officials, was launched at the Attorney General's office yesterday. The launch of the 399-page book titled Ali Said Di Antara Sahabat (Ali Said Among Close Friends) coincided with the first anniversary of his death. The book is a compilation of articles about Ali by 43 of his colleagues in the bureaucracy, fellow lawmen and relatives.
