Texmaco profit rises
Texmaco profit rises JAKARTA (JP): Textile company PT Texmaco Jaya recorded a 45 percent rise in net profit to Rp 29 billion (US$12.2 million) in the first semester of the year from Rp 20 billion in the same period of last year. The company's sales rose 43.51 percent to Rp 221 billion in the January to June period, the company's president, Marimutu Sinivisan, said in a statement Wednesday.

Electricity bills From Kompas I usually pay my electricity bills at the Bank Bumi Daya in the Glodok Building, West Jakarta. When I went to pay my July bill I was referred to the electricity company itself (PLN) on Jl. Bandengan Utara. I had to pay Rp 350,000 but PLN did not issue my July bill. Instead they produced a May 1993 bill (Rp 274,645) plus three bills of Rp 25,000, each of which was a fine. They told me I had not paid my May 1993 bill. I said that I had never postponed any payments.

Slain reporter's wife gets lawyers YOGYAKARTA: Mrs. Marsiyem, wife of journalist Fuad Muhammad Syafruddin who was killed by a gang of thugs last month, complained of police harassment during investigation and solicited legal help. Antara quoted Marsiyem as saying that police interrogators steered their questioning in ways which made her feel cornered and intruded upon. Ex-hostages remain loyal TIMIKA, Irian Jaya: Employees of PT Kamundan Raya recently freed from a group of rebels, who held them hostage for several weeks, said on Sunday they would continue working for the logging company. "We'll keep working for the company, but first we want to go home and see our families," Markus, one of the freed hostages, was quoted by Antara as saying. The other ex-hostages also expressed similar intentions. Markus said they had been treated badly during their captivity.
