Road to Pura Bojonggede

From Pelita

Many complaints about the bad condition of the Pura Bojonggede road in Bogor, West Java have been aired. Nonetheless, we would like to air ours in the hope that the authorities will listen to our plight this time.

I am an office worker who lives at the Pura Bojonggede housing estate. I commute every day by train from Bojonggede to Gambir station and vice versa which, in itself, is no problem. It is the route, Bojonggede station to the housing estate, that has grown into a profound problem, especially at night. Why?

Ojek drivers (motorcycle taxis) refuse to pick up passengers living in the Bojonggede housing estate unless they pay double the normal Rp 2,000 fee. They'd rather drive passengers to other destinations like Sari Gaperi, Bukit Waringin, Bambu Kuning and other housing estates. We cannot blame them, since the road to Pura Bojonggede is heavily damaged.

In the evenings, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get a minivan willing to go our way. All users of this road are desperately wondering when this road will be repaired. The condition of the road is worse from Sudi Mampir toward the crossroad to Pura Bojonggede, right before the luxurious estate Villa Bong on the Bojonggede-Parung route. The many deep potholes slow down traffic to a snail's pace.

Making matters worse is the daily traffic of heavy vehicles transporting building materials like sand, stones, coral, red stone, cement and cement blocks to the housing estates. It seems that it is the only road leading toward new estates, or estates in the construction state. At the moment, several estates are being constructed in the Bojonggede district.

Would it be possible to get the respective developers in the area to participate in road repairs? This would be meaningful even if such repairs would be of a temporary nature before the real work gets done by the respective ministry. After all, they contribute to the road's damage when they transport building materials to and from the construction sites.

Is it also possible to get shops selling building materials to participate in the prospective road repairs?
