Electricity bills

From Kompas

I usually pay my electricity bills at the Bank Bumi Daya in the Glodok Building, West Jakarta. When I went to pay my July bill I was referred to the electricity company itself (PLN) on Jl. Bandengan Utara.

I had to pay Rp 350,000 but PLN did not issue my July bill. Instead they produced a May 1993 bill (Rp 274,645) plus three bills of Rp 25,000, each of which was a fine. They told me I had not paid my May 1993 bill.

I said that I had never postponed any payments. If I had, PLN would have cut off power to my house. They did not accept my explanation.

According to PLN's regulation on delayed payments, a customer's power is shut off if one's bill is not paid within 60 days. If no payment is made, power is cut off permanently. I still have electricity, so I must have paid my bill.

What will happen if next month I have to pay "arrears" from four or five years ago? In general I only keep telephone and electricity bills for up to two years. I appeal to PLN to look into my problem.
