Mitsui Engineering and trading house Mitsui & Co Ltd won an order to provide Indonesia's state-owned electricity utility PT PLN (Persero) with the boilers, he said. Minas crude steady on Aussie demand SINGAPORE (Reuter): Spot premiums of Indonesian low-sulfur, sweet crude oil Minas, were steady on tight supplies, exacerbated by a refiner's import of 600,000 barrels to Australia, industry sources said yesterday. Sources added that over the past two weeks, a European refiner bought at least 600,000 barrels of June lifting Minas crude for its refinery in Australia. This compared to a typical monthly import of 200,000 to 400,000 barrels by Australia.

Aisin's venture in RI NAGOYA (Kyodo): Aisin Takaoka Co. said yesterday it has formed a joint venture company in Indonesia to produce mainly brake drums and other casting parts for automobiles. The joint company, located in Kawaran, east of Jakarta, will begin production in July, with sales targeted to reach 2.44 billion yen in four years, the casting auto parts maker said. The products will be supplied to local plants of Toyota Motor Corp. and other Japanese automakers.

Six polluting hospitals caught JAKARTA (JP): Six hospitals were found polluting the Ciliwung and Cipinang rivers during the 1995/1996 fiscal year, an official said. The head of the city environment bureau, Aboejoewono Aboeprajitno, said yesterday that the clean river program team found that the hospitals dumped wastes straight into the river without treating it. Obituary
Obituary Oei Tjoe Tat, a former state minister in president Sukarno's government, passed away here yesterday of complications brought about by cancer and a stroke. He was 74. Oei passed away at St. Carolus Hospital in Central Jakarta. His private nurse said Oei had been suffering from cancer for the last six months. He is survived by his wife, Kwee Loan Nio and four children. Born in Solo, Central Java, on Apr. 26, 1922, Oei was one of Sukarno's close aides.

Harmoko insists Golkar will not abuse power JAKARTA (JP): Golkar's chairman promised yesterday that the group will not abuse its power if it won another controlling majority in the House of Representatives in the next general election. "Golkar will never use its power arbitrarily. Golkar will use its power to promote the welfare, honor and integrity of all Indonesians," Golkar chairman Harmoko said at the end of a national conference.
