Stored blood contaminated

KEBUMEN, Central Java: The Indonesian Red Cross' Kebumen blood transfusion unit has found 26 of its blood bags contaminated with the Hepatitis B virus.

The unit's spokesperson, Supriyanto, tried to calm public fear by saying that none of the contaminated blood bags have been used for transfusions.

He explained that after examining the records it was discovered that the blood originated from a regular donor who's future donations will be rejected. (wah/mds)
