Six die in dengue outbreak

TEGAL, Central Java: Six people have died and about one hundred remain hospitalized as an outbreak of dengue fever has swept through the Tegal regency in the past two months.

The director of Kardinah public hospital, Makmur Santoso, told The Jakarta Post that 33 people have been admitted to the hospital. Four of those have died.

Meanwhile at the nearby Harapan Anda Hospital 51 patients have been admitted. Two of them have died.

The Regency health office has launched a sanitary operation to clean up the area in order to contain the disease. (wah/mds)
