Six polluting hospitals caught

JAKARTA (JP): Six hospitals were found polluting the Ciliwung and Cipinang rivers during the 1995/1996 fiscal year, an official said.

The head of the city environment bureau, Aboejoewono Aboeprajitno, said yesterday that the clean river program team found that the hospitals dumped wastes straight into the river without treating it.

"We sealed the waste pipes which pour the waste into the rivers," he said.

Aboejoewono refused to name the hospitals. He gave their initials instead. He said the C, F and G.S. hospitals were polluting the Ciliwung River and the H.K.T, P and O.M. hospitals were polluting the Cipinang River. (yns)
