Bhuwanatala to build office building in S'pore JAKARTA (JP): PT Bhuwanatala Indah Permai, a property company which operates two shopping centers in Bandung, will establish an office building in Singapore and a five-star hotel in the West Java capital, the firm's president Heru C. Pramono said yesterday. "The seven-story office building on Beach Road at the Bugis junction in Singapore will cost S$72 million (US$$50.6 million)," Heru said, adding that it is scheduled to be ready in mid-1997.

Jaenuri, aged 20, a construction worker on the Cempaka Mas Apartment project, fell from the elevator carrying him to the sixth floor at 6 a.m. An eyewitness who is also employed on the project said that the victim was not wearing a safety belt. However, the source refused to provide further information, even to police officers.

German tourist dies while diving MANADO, North Sulawesi: A 48-year old German tourist died while diving in the Bunaken Ocean Park last week. Antara identified the victim only as Groppurich, and reported that the exact location of the accident was the Batu Kapal, Nain Island. Local police chief Irawan Soemarno said yesterday that the tourist, who was diving with six others, fainted after diving to a certain depth and had to be helped to resurface.

PT Clipan has new chief JAKARTA (JP): PT Clipan Finance Indonesia's shareholders agreed yesterday at their extraordinary general meeting to the appointment of Pierre Prevot as the new president replacing Philippe Bonin. Prevot was formerly the general manager of Credit Lyonnais in Shanghai and was the first president of Clipan when it was established in Jakarta in 1982 as a joint venture between Credit Lyonnais and Panin Bank.

First world-class theater to be built here next year JAKARTA (JP): The construction of the country's first international playhouse will begin next May, announced Wiyogo Atmodarminto, chairman of the Yayasan Kesenian Jakarta, a local art foundation. "The ground breaking will mark the total renovation of Taman Ismail Marzuki," Wiyogo said yesterday, referring to the art complex in Cikini, Central Jakarta. The new theater will be built on the site of the complex's open-air theater.
