German tourist dies while diving

MANADO, North Sulawesi: A 48-year old German tourist died while diving in the Bunaken Ocean Park last week.

Antara identified the victim only as Groppurich, and reported that the exact location of the accident was the Batu Kapal, Nain Island.

Local police chief Irawan Soemarno said yesterday that the tourist, who was diving with six others, fainted after diving to a certain depth and had to be helped to resurface.

The hospital said that the tourist probably fainted because of toxins in his oxygen tank. (31)
