10 more flyovers to be built

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration will build seven new flyovers and underpasses by the end of this fiscal year, which ends in March 1996, a public works official said over the weekend.

To date, only 15 flyovers and underpasses of the 25 scheduled to be built under the 1992-1997 master plan have been built, said the head of the Jakarta office of the Ministry of Public Works, Dargono Danoeprawiro.

He said six of the projects had been financed by the ministry, while the other nine had been funded by the city administration.

According to Dargono, seven of the remaining 10 flyovers will be built in this fiscal year and financed by the city administration.

The Antara news agency reported over the weekend that the city administration is also carrying out other road projects, such as constructing new lanes on the Cilincing-Cakung road, Jl. I. Gusti Ngurah Rai and Jl. Kali Malang. The latter two are located in East Jakarta. (yns)
